Kevin George, who took over
the business after the death of his father Harry in 1981, has
continued to run it since then. Initially studying
as a fine-artist before training under his father, he has used
his visual skills to great effect, both in varnish restoration
and in the difficult task of the identification of old instruments. - |

Kathy, Kevin's
wife, organises the postal service and secretarial side of the
business. She worked as an infant school teacher until leaving
to start a family and is both efficient and popular with staff
and customers alike. - |

Simon, the chief
restorer, has been with the business since his teenage years. He
trained under Harry George and has gone on from strength to strength,
having a rare and intuitive feel for the natural qualities of
wood. - |

George, the bow restorer and
rehairer, trained initially in furniture restoration in London.
He is patient and modest and immensely hard working. - |

Karen is Kevin's
sister and also trained as an artist. She now works part-time
for The Violin Shop where her forte is in varnish restoration.
She also designs the annual Violin Shop Christmas card, many
customers saving them as collectors' items. -- |
