The Violin Shop is situated
in the busy town of Blackpool, the famous Lancashire resort in
the North West of England. It is located on the first floor of
an Edwardian bank building overlooking the principal square,
and, beyond, the promenade and the north pier. Such a location
might not seem an obvious place to find a shop specialising in
the repair, restoration and dealing of violins, but its rooms
are a haven of peace above the bustle of the town.
People often travel from all
over the country to purchase instruments or to have their own
carefully restored. Anything from inexpensive beginner's outfits
to fine old French and Italian stock, are all carefully set up
in order to bring out the best in that particular instrument.
Apart from the showroom, workshops and storerooms, there are
two small trying rooms where people are able to spend as long
as they need trying various instruments, with help and advice
available if needed.
